LIGHT, AIR, SPACE, QUIETNESS AND FREEDOM
A unique 'villa in the sky'. That is how you could call this characteristic, extremely spacious and light apartment on three floors in the most beautiful and tranquil part of the Churchill-laan. Unique in terms of its authentic details, location, size and many possibilities: for a large family, work at home or an artist's studio/home. The property can also be divided in several apartments.
A well maintained common stairwell leads to two properties on the second and third floor and also to the floor on fourth level which is part of the apartment on the third floor. Natural light comes from a large glass skylight.
A spacious hall leads immediately into the spacious loft-like kitchen and dining/living area, situated at the rear, facing the north. The windows give a view of the lush gardens in the residential block. A beautiful Japanese larch, in which many bird species obtain their food, filters the light. The tree gives the idea of a private garden on the third and fourth floor level. The living kitchen has two fitted closets, of which one also contains the electricity installation and the other offers space for a refrigerator and storage. The balcony still has its original closet and box, in which is plenty of storage space. At the front of the apartment, facing the south, are two ensuite living rooms, which can be separated with the original stained-glass doors, flanked by fitted cupboards. Both rooms have a mantelpiece. Striking are the large windows over the entire width of the apartment. They offer a beautiful view over the wide park-like gardens of the Churchill-laan and the characteristic villas on the Muzenplein and on the horizon the Zuidas. The arched passage in the hall leads to the spacious master bedroom as well as to the bathroom and toilet, which has also an ensuite entrance to the bedroom. The bedroom has patio doors to the balcony at the rear. The bathroom with original granito flooring has a bath with shower and sink.
A spiral staircase situated in the open kitchen dining room leads to the large room above it on the fourth level, now used as a studio. The light dome above the spiral staircase and the windows across the entire width of the studio bathe the room in natural light. Also this room features a convenient fixed cupboard. A glass door connects the studio with a spacious second bedroom with also a window section across the entire width. Outside there is a flat roof where a balcony can be realized. Adjacent to the bedroom is a hallway with bathroom. Here a spacious shower, a sink and a toilet have been installed as well as the fittings for the laundry machine. The boiler is concealed in a separated space. In the hallway a door goes to the hall that opens at the top of the common stairwell. This floor has in addition to the aforementioned spiral staircase inside, also a seperate entrance via the staircase. The hall on the fourth floor is now partially in use as a walk-in closet. At the front, the fourth floor has a large bedroom (with a fixed closet) and a living room with workspace. The windows over the entire width offer a fantastic view of Amsterdam-Zuid.
From the living space on the fourth floor, a wide staircase leads to the attic below the saddle roof over the entire width of the house. The attic evokes the atmosphere and tranquility of a holiday home. The bright living room also has its own kitchen. In the middle patio doors gives access to the large roof terrace that has sun all day from February until the end of October. A large skylight is placed at the front. From here the view extends to Schiphol.
The Rivierenbuurt borough is one of the nicest residential areas of Amsterdam, because of the diverse range of shops, the very convenient location in terms of connectivity and the spacious layout of the neighborhood. The apartment is situated on the border of the Rivierenbuurt and Nieuw-Zuid boroughs, at the head of the wide Churchill-laan. It is one of the most beautiful and greenest lanes in Amsterdam and recently also a protected cityscape. The apartment overlooks the corner Amstelkade and the Muzenplein. A unique double square: a water square where five canals meet and a traffic square on two bridges that connects the Churchill-laan and Apollolaan. It is one of the highlights of the Plan Zuid by the famous architect Berlage. On the bridge of designer Piet Kramer, a staircase leads down to a small park where you can sit on benches close to the water or hop on your boat and follow one of the many sailing routes via the Amstel Canal. Beautiful statues by artists like Hildo Krop adorn the bridgeheads, walls and facades.
Because there are no trams or traffic lights in this part of the Churchill-laan, the property is situated in a quiet oasis only at five minutes cycling distance from the lively Zuidas, Museumplein and Albert Cuyp market, a few minutes walk to the numerous café's, restaurants and shops on the bustling Scheldestraat, Beethovenstraat, Maasstraat or Ferdinand Bolstraat. Tram and bus stops are within a minute's walk. The station of the Noord-Zuidlijn metro at the nearby RAI Convention Center is only a five-minute walk. It offers a quick and easy commute to Central Station. By car you are in two minutes on the A10 beltway and within fifteen minutes at Schiphol. Beatrixpark, Sarphatipark, De Mirandabad swimming pool and several good schools and daycare centers are within walking distance.
