That’s the slogan of the municipality of Leiderdorp. Leiderdorp is located in the middle of the Randstad, ‘between city and country’. To its west you find Leiden, other parts of the town border the Groene Hart (Green Heart). Kees-Jan Bouw works as certified real estate agent and assessor at Drieman Garantiemakelaars in Leiderdorp. He has been active in the Leiden area for over 25 years. He is also a member of the Dutch association of real estate agents (NVM) and recently became a Certified Expat Broker through the Makelaarsvereniging Amsterdam (MVA). The rest of the team consists of Ellen Vlasveld, assistant estate agent and internal sales assistant, and Charissa Oudendorp. Charissa works as internal sales assistant and is studying to be a candidate-estate agent.
Kees-Jan explains: ‘Our branch is located centrally in Leiderdorp along the main road ‘De Engelendaal’. From our homely office we serve our clients and work in the Leiden area. Apart from Leiden, this area includes Oegstgeest, Voorschoten and Leiderdorp. If you would like to live in a more rural area, we can also help you find a property in the Groene Hart, in places like Hoogmade, Woubrugge, Roelofarendsveen, Koudekerk, Hazerswoude, etc. We provide advice concerning the buying and selling and renting and letting of properties. Apart from that, we carry out appraisals, among other things for financing and mortgages (validated appraisals).
Leiderdorp is a municipality with about 25.000 inhabitants at the outskirts of Leiden, and is centrally located in the Randstad, between Amsterdam/Schiphol Airport and The Hague. Utrecht and Gouda are also easily reachable from Leiderdorp. Leiderdorp is located on the Oude Rijn river and the Groene Hart, which offers beautiful walking and cycling routes through the typical Dutch landscape.
The neighbouring city of Leiden is a bit similar to Amsterdam, but in miniature. It is known for its theatre, nice canals, the oldest university in the Netherlands, cosy pubs and ample restaurants. The beautiful boat rides through the canals and waterways are highly recommended. If the weather is nice, the beaches of Katwijk and Noordwijk, both at a 30 minutes’ drive from Leiderdorp, are great places to relax, too. You will find some great beach restaurants with good food there.
Leiderdorp is an independent municipality with its own amenities. It has an extensive mall, ‘Winkelhof’, with free parking in the basement. Leiderdorp also has several sports facilities, where you can play football, hockey, tennis, go horse riding or do fitness. There’s also a swimming pool called ‘De Does’. In short, there is a wide variety of clubs for all ages. The Alrijne Hospital is also located in Leiderdorp, with annexes in Leiden and Alphen aan den Rijn. The Leiden area counts several primary and secondary schools. The primary school ‘De Elckrelyck’ is located in Leiderdorp and is characterised by its international department. Many children from Leiderdorp continue their education at the international department of the Rijnlands Lyceum in Oegstgeest. However, there are multiple secondary schools in the Leiden area that offer the concept of ‘tweetalig onderwijs (tto)’ (bilingual education).
It takes approximately 15 minutes to cycle to the Central Station and the historical inner city of Leiden. From Leiden Central Station, it’s a 20-minute train ride to Schiphol Airport, and 25 minutes to the southern part of Amsterdam (Zuidas). The Hague is a 15-minute train ride away, and getting to Rotterdam or Utrecht takes about 40 minutes.
‘The properties on offer in the Leiden area are quite diverse. From canal houses in the city to the 1930s homes in the Professoren en Burgemeesterswijk (Professors and Mayors Borough). In Roomburg you can find modern properties that are energy-efficient. Leiderdorp also has a variety of houses and neighbourhoods. All neighbourhoods have a good connection with the national roads A4 and N11, making it easy to traverse the country by car.’
