The Huis te Bennebroek used to be called Duinwyck. The first design for this dates from 1659. A landscape-style design for the garden was already made in 1761 by the surveyor Adriaan Snoek. The design of the Zochers included changing the water features, building paths and groups of trees and making the site slightly sloping. After the death of the last resident in 1950, according to her last wish, the house became a rest home for the elderly. Most of the garden buildings were then demolished and not long after, the house was also demolished for a new service flat. Part of the country estate is owned by the province of North Holland and is called the Bennebroekbos. That part has been renovated in nineteenth-century style.
The complex Huis te Bennebroek built in 1975 has undergone a metamorphosis in recent years.
