A ‘landgoed’ (estate) is a large piece of land that occupies several hectares, and includes farmlands, forests and gardens. Other buildings that can be found on estates are country houses, castles, churches or large farms. Activities such as forestry, agriculture and recreation can be a source of income for the estate’s owner. Estates are also often used for weddings, conferences or other events.
