Description

In one of the most beautiful areas of the city, near the Central Station and metro stop Nieuwmarkt, we can offer you this beautifully finished three-room apartment with a sunny roof terrace.
This modern renovated house is located on the fourth floor of a well-maintained building and has a fantastic view of the medieval city gate (De Waag) and the historic city center.
In addition to its location in the protected cityscape designated by the government, the building has been designated as a municipal monument, which is not surprising because almost all the buildings that you look out on are classified as a national or municipal monument.

Due to the high ceilings, the apartment is very surprisingly divided with a raised living area and has a spacious bedroom and second bedroom/study located on the quiet rear facade.
The kitchen has a very modern finish with a light composite worktop and various built-in appliances. The sanitary facilities are also very modern and there is a separate toilet with a fountain next to the bathroom.
In the bedrooms there are custom built-in wardrobes where the washing machine and dryer are nicely concealed.
On the sunny roof terrace, accessible through the small bedroom, you can enjoy the sun almost all day long.

In short, a very well laid out and finished apartment in a very special location and certainly worth a visit.

Layout:
Entrance houses on the first floor.
Third floor: Private entrance house on the third floor.
Fourth floor: Landing with access to the various rooms, spacious living room with original dormer window and two skylights with a fantastic view, modern open kitchen with various built-in appliances, spacious bedroom with custom built-in closets, second bedroom with custom built-in wardrobes with a bed for guests, nice roof terrace oriented to the Southeast, toilet with wash basin, bathroom with shower and wash basin.
The private storage room of approximately 3 mē is located in the basement.

Location:
The location in the Nieuwmarktbuurt/Lastage is very special because this is one of the oldest areas in the city, and that is clearly visible in the monumental buildings and the medieval street plan in the area.
From the living room you look out on the Sint Anthoniespoort, the old entrance gate to the city that dates from circa 1425. In circa 1625 the old city wall was removed, creating a market on the square now known as the Nieuwmarkt.
On Saturdays there is the well-known Organic market on the Nieuwmarkt and in the summer months there is a nice antique market on Sundays.
The area is known for its numerous nice and cozy restaurants, cafes and shops, each with its own specialties such as the Italian ice cream from Tofani, the Chinese cuisine from Nam Kee, the cheese fondue from cafe Berndt, the Thai kitchen from Bird, broodje Zeedijk from butcher Fat and so on. For daily shopping you can go to the Albert Heijn on the Nieuwmarkt, the Albert Heijn XL in the Jodenbreestraat, the Chinese supermarket on the Nieuwmarkt or on the Geldersekade, a Dirk van den Broek in the Warmoesstraat and the daily market on the Nieuwmarkt.

Accessibility:
The house is very easy to reach by public transport because the metro stop of the Nieuwmarkt in the Koningsstraat is about 50 meters away. The metro lines 51, 53 and 54 have direct connections to Amsterdam Central Station, the North/South line, Amsterdam Amstel Station, Duivendrecht Station and Amsterdam Bijlmer/Arena Station. In addition, the Central Station is less than three minutes walking distance with various national and international train connections.
Via the Weesperstraat or via the IJ tunnel there is good access by car and there is a connection to the Ring A10. Parking is paid or via the parking permit system with waiting list (see website municipality for indication of waiting time) and guests can visit the IJ-Oever Parking on the Oosterdokseiland for a reasonable rate.

MVA neighbourhood information: Nieuwmarkt/Lastage

This area is known as the quiet part of Amsterdam Centrum. Amsterdam East is an environmentally friendly area with canals and important cultural buildings. These characteristics make this part of Amsterdam ideal as a residential area. Unlike downtown this area consists of many young couples who are starting with their careers. East and the eastern islands and the old harbor-area is still relatively vacant, but that will change in the upcoming years with the Weesper- and Plantagebuurt still in development.

Amsterdam

Amsterdam is the largest Dutch city, the capital of the Netherlands, and the nation's financial, business, cultural and commercial capital as well. Since its founding in the 12th century, Amsterdam has evolved from a small fishing village into one of the most important ports in the world during the Dutch Golden Age. Museums like the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh and the Stedelijk also give Amsterdam serious cultural credibility. Amsterdam's compact size, cycling lifestyle, diverse population (more than 170 nationalities), English-speaking natives, abundance of green space, reliable public transportation system and central location within Europe mean it's not only a great place to visit, but also a great place to live.

Your purchasing agent knows the market like no other

When you enlist the services of a purchasing agent who is affiliated with the MVA or NVM, you can be sure he or she knows all the ins and outs of the relevant market. Especially when housing prices are volatile, you can be assured that your estate agent is taking all the necessary factors into account.

Apartments

Buying an apartment in Amsterdam is different from buying a house or a detached villa. In case of an apartment, you do not only have neighbours to your left and right, but often also above or underneath you. That means the ground on which the property is located belongs to multiple people. This can lead to complications when you’re trying to figure out the extra costs before buying the apartment.
