Description
‘With pain in our hearts, we are leaving Amsterdam and selling our home!
We’ve lived here for six years and loved every minute. This is where our children were born and where they spent the first years of their lives. The house has a great atmosphere, with high ceilings, beautiful natural light and large rooms. And of course, it’s right in the middle of the friendly Pijp neighbourhood. Plenty of little cafés, boutiques and countless restaurants are all within walking distance. There are also kids’ cafés and lots of playgrounds within easy reach. And of course we have Sarphatipark as a huge extra back garden, and the Albert Cuyp market just round the corner. You’ve got the choice of six different supermarkets within five minutes’ walk; where else would you get that! It’s a fantastic neighbourhood, we have regular contact with the other residents and local businesses. The last rays of sun to reach our street shine right in through our front door and, we’ve spent many a late-summer afternoon just sitting in front of the house. Friends literally drop in for a drink if they’re in the area. In short; it’s a fun place to live. Having said that, it’s also a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. The house is very quiet, as is our little back garden, which gets the early-morning sun.
It pains us to leave, but we hope that the new residents will be as happy here as we’ve been for the past six years!’
As you can see, this is a ‘must see’ for anyone looking for a great family home in one of the most sought-after parts of Amsterdam!
A few highlights:
The front of the property is one huge shop window, allowing in an ocean of natural light. This former shop is spread over three floors and has a spacious living room with adjoining dining room and an unusual spilt level. It has three bedrooms and two bathrooms at the rear of the property, which is also the quiet side. All in all, this is a strikingly spacious, efficiently laid-out double ground floor apartment, with approx. 128 m² (NEN 2580) of floor space. The ground floor has a small, sunny, south-facing back garden, in a setting that makes it feel very open and spacious. The property is located in the quiet part of Govert Flinckstraat, in the heart of the vibrant Pijp neighbourhood.
LAYOUT
Own entrance, high, wide, comfortable living room with a beautiful parquet floor, hall with a storeroom and a second front door. You go up a few steps into the good-sized dining room on the garden side of the apartment, with a well-equipped semi-open-plan kitchen. There’s also a door to the toilet and a storage cupboard, and a door to the south-facing garden.
The huge master bedroom is on the first floor. It has its own bathroom, with a bath, walk-in shower and double basin, all decorated in pale, tasteful colours. This floor could be split off to create a separate apartment of 31 m2, which would be accessible from the communal staircase.
In the semi-basement, there are two further bedrooms at the rear of the property (currently in use as children’s bedrooms), along with another bathroom with a shower, basin and toilet. There is a practical set-up for a washing machine/drier in the hall. This floor also enjoys plenty of daylight and can be accessed through the second front door if required! This creates a multitude of possibilities (renting parts of the property, sharing the property, running a practice from home or accommodating older children who still live at home, etc.)
The attic has a loft and plenty of storage space.

This highly sought-after location in the popular De Pijp neighbourhood is just a stone’s throw away from numerous interesting shops, bars and good restaurants, such as those in Van Woustraat, Ferdinand Bolstraat and, of course, Albert Cuypstraat.
