Description

A wonderful FAMILY HOME with lots of options to put your own stamp on it, in the popular ‘Schildersbuurt’ in Heemstede. A spacious house (177 m2), 5 LARGE BEDROOMS and a generous and SUNNY GARDEN. This house, which was built in the 1930s, still retains many of its original details. With its high ceilings and LARGE ROOMS, the house feels exceptionally spacious and airy.
The property is in a central location near shopping streets with trendy boutiques and great restaurants, as well as within cycling distance from the centre of Haarlem and a train station with direct connections to THE HAGUE and AMSTERDAM (less than 30 minutes).

LIVING AND COOKING
The front door opens to a large entrance hall with a beautiful, original granite floor. The hall, which also includes the downstairs toilet with a washstand and the staircase to the first floor, leads to the living room and the separate kitchen.
The dual aspect living room (approx. 40 m2) is spacious and light, with windows at the front and the French doors to the garden at the back. The room also features a cosy fireplace. The layout offers the option to extend the living room and open it up to the kitchen to create a magnificent open-plan kitchen-diner.
The current kitchen includes various built-in appliances and is large enough to fit a dining table and chairs. The kitchen also has its original granite floor and looks out to the garden.

SLEEPING AND BATHING
Three of the bedrooms and the family bathroom are on the first floor. Two of the bedrooms are certainly large enough for a king-size bed and wardrobes. The third bedroom would be a great children's room or study.
The other two bedrooms and a laundry room are on the second floor. One of these bedrooms runs from the front of the house to the back, with dormer windows on both sides making this a very bright room. The fifth bedroom, also of a generous size, has a dormer window and a loft ladder to the spacious storage attic.
The second floor is also big enough to create a second bathroom.

The generously sized family bathroom on the first floor can be accessed from both the landing and the bedroom at the front of the house and has some unique details and granite flooring. One of the special features is the natural light that comes in from the beautiful stained glass windows. The bathroom is fitted with a bath, a shower cabin, a toilet, a washbasin, and white goods connections.

OUTSIDE
The elongated, west-facing garden offers a large terrace, a pond, a shed with electricity and lighting, and a back entrance. The garden is big enough to find a nice spot to enjoy the sun at whatever moment of the day. The large front garden faces east and a great spot to enjoy the morning sun. It also offers space to park several bicycles.

LOCATION
This large family home is in a child-friendly neighbourhood with plenty of on-street parking. You will find all kinds of amenities within walking distance, such as a rowing club on the river Het Spaarne, the Bronsteevijver where the locals love to swim, go boating or ice skating, and the lively Jan van Goyenstraat and the Binnenweg with their many great shops and restaurants. The wonderful and historical city centre of Haarlem is just 10 minutes cycling. You will also have the romantic Haarlemmerhout city park, sports facilities, child daycare centres, and primary and secondary schools nearby. Train station Heemstede-Aerdenhout, from where you can reach The Hague and Amsterdam within 30 minutes, is less than 10 minutes cycling.
And last but not least, you will have the beach and the splendid dune landscape of Zuid-Kennemerland National Park basically as your back garden as well.

Heemstede

Heemstede is a municipality and a town in the province of North Holland. Heemstede was formed around the Castle Heemstede, which was built overlooking the Spaarne River around 1286. Before 1296, Floris V, Count of Holland, granted Heemstede as a fiefdom to Reinier of Holy. During the 14th century, a village formed near the castle, which was destroyed and rebuilt several times in this period. A resident of this castle was Adriaan Pauw, who bought it in 1620. In 1653, Bennebroek split off from Heemstede, becoming a separate fiefdom.
