Description

At the south edge of Kennemerland, surrounded by other estates and country seats, where the old shoreline passes into the lower former bleaching field, the estate ‘Bloemenoord’ is located on a spaciously sized plot of 4 ha, 15 a and 80 ca. Originally, ‘Bloemenoord’ was constructed in 1920 and the park-like garden was designed by landscape architect Leonard A. Springer. In 2001, the existing structures were replaced by new constructions and the current structures were realised in a Frank Lloyd Wright style under the architect Aat van Tilburg. Here, the construction facing was rotated in such a way that it primarily has a southwest direction and the deep sightlines of the plot were taken into account.

The estate ‘Bloemenoord’ (2001) consists of a symmetrical main building in a U-shape and in the same angle and at equal distance from the main structure the orangery and the covered swimming pool have been placed. The tennis court with a tennis court house has been placed out of sight in a more shaded area to the south on the plot. Aside the forecourt a separate garage has been situated for the garaging of 4 cars, while in the main building inside also 3 cars can be parked. Because the entire main building has been placed 1 metre above the surface level and features roll layers, water layers and protruding cornices and because of the choice of solely high quality materials, the design has grandeur.

The forecourt is made accessible to the public road using an entrance and exit with remote controlled access gates with intercom. This terrain and the entrance of the estate are modest, the park-like garden behind the villa exuberant and it forms one harmonic whole with the structures thanks to the design of the villa with its large terraces surrounding, spacious balconies and spaciously sized window frames.

The entrance of the main structure is located across a platform stairs to the front porch and has a very spaciously sized and high hall with fantastic daylighting with a spaciously sized wardrobe (also possibility for placement of a lift) and on the left there is the meter box, technical area for the air treatment and guest toilet, spacious kitchen diner with various devices, scullery, au pair apartment with own bathroom and passage to the dining room. This dining room with fireplace runs through lounge and conservatory to the living room also with fireplace. These spacious, which seem like the lobby of an international hotel and all provide sight to the estate, have access to a spaciously sized partially covered terrace surrounding. From the living room, a second sitting room is accessible to the right side of the structure. In the left wing of the house, there are three garages and a hobby space integrated in the house. In the right wing, there is an office area with own entrance, hall, room for the secretariat and a spacious office/work room. The spacious basement is accessible through two identical stairways, which is currently in use as sport, cinema, hobby and storage space, but can of course also get another use.

The first floor is accessible from the central hall using a lazy stairway, where through a gallery, 4 spacious bedrooms, of which 2 with balcony, 4 bathrooms, 3 dressing areas, a sitting room and a library are accessible. Through a simple adjustment, since this was already taken into account during the construction, it is possible to realise 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms on this floor.

Heemstede

Heemstede is a municipality and a town in the province of North Holland. Heemstede was formed around the Castle Heemstede, which was built overlooking the Spaarne River around 1286. Before 1296, Floris V, Count of Holland, granted Heemstede as a fiefdom to Reinier of Holy. During the 14th century, a village formed near the castle, which was destroyed and rebuilt several times in this period. A resident of this castle was Adriaan Pauw, who bought it in 1620. In 1653, Bennebroek split off from Heemstede, becoming a separate fiefdom.
