Katwijk

Katwijk is a coastal town with a lot of character. The beach, the attractive boulevard and the dunes are inextricably connected. Along the boulevard, you can find the one-but-oldest lighthouse in the Netherlands; only the Brandaris beats it by a few years. This lighthouse has been situated here in Katwijk since 1605. Just behind the church on the boulevard you’ll find a courtyard with fisherman’s houses, where you can still taste the old fisherman’s history. Among Katwijk’s dunes is the Vlaggeduin. The top of this dune counts an impressive 37 metres above sea level, making it the highest point in the province of South Holland.
