You can drive to the center of Amsterdam within half an hour. Aalsmeer has all imaginable shops, many restaurants, a rich cultural life and a lot of sports. Tennis, football, inline skating, water sports, you name it. The Fort and the Geniedijk are around the corner and are a wonderful starting point for long cycling, walking or running trips. The Westeinder Plassen, with the beach within walking distance of the house, is a beautiful nature and recreation area. In short: Aalsmeer / Kudelstaart is a great alternative to living in the Randstad with the advantages of a rural environment but also the city around the corner.
