Leiderdorp is a municipality in the Dutch province of South Holland, situated in the centre of the Randstad, ‘between city and nature’. To its west you can find the city of Leiden, the rest of the village borders the Groene Hart (Green Heart). Leiderdorp is a lively municipality with lots to offer. You can go for a walk-in leisure park De Houtkamp, or go canoeing in the Vadedo Plas. With a total surface of 20 hectares, De Houtkamp is often called ‘the green heart of an urban centre’. The ‘Vrienden van het Oude Dorp’ foundation organises several big events in Leiderdorp every year. Examples of these are the Smartlappenfestival (a music festival), the Disco Classics Party and the communal singing of Christmas songs at the church every year. In other words: Leiderdorp is a lively municipality with plenty of choice when it comes to sports and recreational activities.
