Maarssen is also a part of the municipality of Stichtse Vecht, in the province of Utrecht. Maarssen consists of two parts. The older part, north of the canal, is colloquially known as Maarssen-dorp (‘Maarssen-village’). Directly to its west, on the other side of the canal, there’s a relatively newer part called Maarssenbroek, where the station is located.
Maarssen boasts plenty of interesting sights, as well as petting farms and the Maarsseveense lakes, which are definitely worth visiting. This is a unique area for recreation, (water) sports and outdoor activities, such as fishing, walking, cycling and even horse riding.
