Short description apartment

This luxury yet authentic double upstairs apartment lies in an amazing, central location on one of the picturesque canals in Amsterdam in the highly coveted Plantage neighbourhood. Situated on FREEHOLD LAND!

The 3-bedroom apartment is in a wonderfully central yet really quiet location on a low-traffic canal near the Weesperstraat. For those who love art, culture, and nightlife, this location offers countless of options within walking distance, such as the Royal Theatre Carré, the Hortus Botanicus, Artis Zoo, the National Opera and Ballet Theatre, the Rijksmuseum, and the lively Utrechtsestraat.

The bright and airy apartment takes up the third and fourth floor of the building and includes a large living room and three bedrooms. The bathroom, two separate toilets, and the utility room are all finished with a stunning marble look that fits perfectly with the period features of the apartment. The spacious kitchen includes all the built-in appliances you need, including two climatised wine cabinets (Siemens).

The apartment lies on freehold land (no leasehold, which is more common in Amsterdam).

Layout
The well-maintained communal stairwell brings you to the entrance on the third floor. The hallway, with a cloak area and the modern toilet with a washstand, then leads on to the living room.

The large living room features a Juliet balcony at the front, offering stunning views of the canal while you can bask in the late-afternoon sun. The large windows at the front and back let in lots of natural light and the beautiful classic parquet flooring and ornamental ceiling create a wonderful atmosphere. The spacious, open-plan kitchen is at the back of the house and includes a dishwasher, a 5-burner gas stove (including a wok burner), an extraction hood, a fridge, and a microwave/oven. The two climatised wine cabinets, the close-in boiler, and the huge amount of storage space finish off this wonderful kitchen. The utility room behind the kitchen includes the white goods connections and is large enough to fit another fridge or freezer.

The internal staircase leads to the landing on the fourth floor and to the three bedrooms, the bathroom, a large built-in cupboard, and the second toilet. The traditional character of this beautiful canal house continues on the top floor with its beautiful ornamental ceilings.

The splendid master bedroom is at the front and, with its ceiling height of 3.24 m, feels exceptionally spacious. The master bedroom also includes large, bespoke wardrobes. The other two bedrooms are at the back of the apartment. All the rooms (apart from the bathroom) on the fourth floor have white wooden floorboards, creating a wonderful harmonious look.

The luxury bathroom with modern marble-look tiles features a double washbasin unit, a design radiator, and a walk-in shower with a rainshower head and thermostatic tap. The separate toilet on the landing has been finished with the same tiles and includes a washstand.

The central heating unit is in the storage cupboard.

Surroundings
Even though the apartment is in a wonderfully central location, the street and the surrounding area are peaceful and quiet. The apartment is within walking distance of the Amstel river and the Magere Brug, Royal Theatre Carré, Artis Zoo, the National Opera and Ballet Theatre, the Utrechtsestraat, and the Rembrandtplein.

More information

MVA neighbourhood information: Weesperbuurt/Plantage

this area is known as the quiet part of Amsterdam Centrum. Amsterdam East is an environmentally friendly area with canals and important cultural buildings. These characteristics make this part of Amsterdam ideal as a residential area. Unlike downtown this area consists of many young couples who are starting with their careers. East and the eastern islands and the old harbor-area is still relatively vacant, but that will change in the upcoming years with the Weesper- and Plantagebuurt still in development.

Amsterdam

Amsterdam is the largest Dutch city, the capital of the Netherlands, and the nation's financial, business, cultural and commercial capital as well. Since its founding in the 12th century, Amsterdam has evolved from a small fishing village into one of the most important ports in the world during the Dutch Golden Age. Museums like the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh and the Stedelijk also give Amsterdam serious cultural credibility. Amsterdam's compact size, cycling lifestyle, diverse population (more than 170 nationalities), English-speaking natives, abundance of green space, reliable public transportation system and central location within Europe mean it's not only a great place to visit, but also a great place to live.

Apartments

Buying an apartment in Amsterdam is different from buying a house or a detached villa. In case of an apartment, you do not only have neighbours to your left and right, but often also above or underneath you. That means the ground on which the property is located belongs to multiple people. This can lead to complications when you’re trying to figure out the extra costs before buying the apartment.
