Neighborhood and area
Just a 15-minute drive from Amsterdam is this stunning townhouse in the inner city of Monnickendam.
Schiphol is a 30-minute drive away. Cyclists, runners and hikers can indulge in their hobbies in the beautiful Waterland region: plan trips to Uitdam, Durgerdam, Holysloot and Gouwzee. The area is home to 3 marinas and Hemmeland has several beaches and beach pavilion Strandvier. Grocereies are available within walking distance, and there is a lovely weekly Saturday market on Noordeinde. Culinary buffs can treat themselves to an unforgettable experience at Michelin Star restaurant De Posthoorn.
Layout of the house:
Private sidewalk out front of the beautiful facade with original bricks that reflect the history of the Nursery School. Entrance with a coat area, with wooden cladding.
The first section of the nearly 20-meter long living space with a (semi-)open plan kitchen features cast flooring, flowing through into original herringbone wooden flooring.
The semi-open plan kitchen has a travertine marble trim, so that the countertop is just hidden from view. The stainless-steel countertop is a perfect match with the large stand-alone stove with an oven. The kitchen is fitted with a wide range of appliances and offers ample storage space in the drawers.
Across from the kitchen is room for a long dining table, ideal for entertaining large groups of friends or for dinners with a large family.
The dining and sitting area are slightly separated from the rest of the space by the wooden stairs leading upstairs. There is a restroom below the stairs.
The spacious yet welcoming sitting area has approximately 4.5m ceilings and a designer fireplace (suspended) by Dominique Imbert.
The back door opens to the garden (ca. 225sqm) which faces south and has several tiered areas and a gorgeous view of the de Nicolaas en Anthoniuskerk church. The ca. 40sqm garden house is fitted with gas, water and electrics. At the rear is a secluded veranda. The garden house also accommodates a storage room. The garden has mature and diverse plants and a number of decks.
The garden also accesses the vault cellar, spanning ca. 72sqm - only 13 of these cellars exist in all of the Netherlands!
Back in the house, on the way upstairs, is a mezzanine floor: a lovely spot for a work station, and due to the open gallery there is still direct contact with the living room.
A few more steps lead to the bedroom floor. Before reaching the bedrooms, you will find yourself in the 'invisible' library: the diagonally positioned wooden planes are initially hidden from view.
The master bedroom is at the front and spans the full width of the building. With a deep windowsill and stunning wall details. The master bedroom connects to the master bathroom with a bathtub, vanity, spacious. walk-in shower and ample daylight entry via the skylights. Finishes include Vola faucets and natural stone. A large walk-in closet completes the master suite.
There are 3 more bedrooms at the rear and the side of this floor. Each with a mezzanine, and generous ceiling heights. These bedrooms have a private bathroom with a shower and a vanity. There is a separate restroom.
The attic floor features a large room overlooking the water of Gouwzee. This level also includes a large bathroom with a shower, vanity and a toilet. On the opposite side of the landing is the laundry room/ utility room.
