The Recht Boomssloot is located in the historic centre of Amsterdam and takes its name from the ditch that the 16th century shipbuilder Cornelis Pietersz Boom dug to connect his shipyard on the Lastage with the IJ river. A primary school on the same canal, the Nieuwmarkt with its cosy cafes around the corner, a wide range of restaurants and other entertainment venues just a stone's throw away. Several museums and Artis within walking distance and a full range of shops for all daily needs. The house itself is located on a newly renovated and rezoned canal. The neighbourhood is easily accessible by car, including through the IJtunnel. Public transport is very easy to reach: the metro is a 3-minute walk away, as are various bus lines and Central Station is also within walking distance. Prefer to go by bike? A more central location is almost impossible. PARKING On the public road there is paid parking (Mon-Sat 0.00 to 4.00, Mon-Sat 9.00 to 24.00 and Sun. from 12.00 to 24.00) and parking by means of a permit system. According to information from the website of the municipality of Amsterdam, there is a waiting list for a parking permit.

This area is known as the quiet part of Amsterdam Centrum. Amsterdam East is an environmentally friendly area with canals and important cultural buildings.
