Banne North and South were mostly built during the sixties and seventies. The streets are named after ship types and other concepts from the shipping industry. Banne South had many flats but, those have mostly been replaced by new buildings. Residential area Banne North is green and has a low-traffic rate. Banne East was also built during the nineties and consists of mainly single family houses. The Bezaanjachtplein, at the corner of the Ijdoornlaan, is the Banne-Center, realized with houses, a shopping centre, library and a multifunctional center/district house.
