Layout
The experience in this unique building starts downstairs at the beautiful classic wooden front door.
Entrance of the house on the second floor, where the light from the many windows immediately catches the eye. Because it is the top floor, you still enjoy a lot of privacy here. Large living room with open kitchen of 12 meters long with the sturdy wooden beams in sight.
See also our digital sketch for an impression. At the moment there is a small side room with a cupboard that can easily be turned into a study / office.

At the back of the living room is a separate toilet and an internal staircase with the original monastery stairs to the fourth floor. Of course you can also take the steel stairs in the living room upstairs.
Next to the monastery stairs you see stained glass windows that provide the house with a beautiful light.

Third floor:
The bedroom floor has a beautiful open layout and a ceiling height of no less than 5 meters. Here is the master bedroom with walk in closet, just like the bathroom with bath, double sink and walk-in shower with adjacent separate toilet. Furthermore, a storage room with space for the washing machine and dryer. It is possible by dormer windows or skylights at the rear to create several bedrooms. Patio door to the spacious roof terrace at the rear of 12 m2 located on the west, where you can enjoy the trees, the church and the sun in peace. Above the bathroom is a spacious loft, currently used as storage space.

The stairwell with the monastery stairs is located at the back with a small landing. From here you can go to the unique tower with two cozy workplaces. The round window on the top floor provides a magnificent view of the Museumplein.

Finally, on the ground floor a quiet communal courtyard where you can sit.

Location
This former monastery is located in Amsterdam South, in the quiet part of the popular Pijp. For daily shopping you can go to the Ferdinand Bolstraat or the Cornelis Troostplein. The neighborhood has an abundance of fun and special shops, coffee shops, fantastic restaurants, all within walking distance.
You can relax, run or walk in the nearby Beatrixpark or Sarphatipark.

More information

MVA neighbourhood information: Nieuwe Pijp

De Pijp is vibrant and very much on its way up. As can be expected of an area that is centred on the nation’s most famous outdoor market Albert Cuypmarkt, this Amsterdam neighbourhood is famously diverse with over 150 nationalities represented. By the time the NZ-lijn underground metro is finished, De Pijp’s gentrification process should be complete with the always strong student population giving way to yet more families of young creatives and professionals. Albert Cuypmarkt Yes indeed: the Albert Cuypmarkt is not only the ‘kitchen of Amsterdam’ but also the place to witness the city in action. There are also many hidden treats to be discovered: innovative buildings built on the principles of Theosophy.

Amsterdam

Amsterdam is the largest Dutch city, the capital of the Netherlands, and the nation's financial, business, cultural and commercial capital as well. Since its founding in the 12th century, Amsterdam has evolved from a small fishing village into one of the most important ports in the world during the Dutch Golden Age. Museums like the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh and the Stedelijk also give Amsterdam serious cultural credibility. Amsterdam's compact size, cycling lifestyle, diverse population (more than 170 nationalities), English-speaking natives, abundance of green space, reliable public transportation system and central location within Europe mean it's not only a great place to visit, but also a great place to live.

Apartments

Buying an apartment in Amsterdam is different from buying a house or a detached villa. In case of an apartment, you do not only have neighbours to your left and right, but often also above or underneath you. That means the ground on which the property is located belongs to multiple people. This can lead to complications when you’re trying to figure out the extra costs before buying the apartment.
