Wormerland is a municipality in the Zaan area in the Dutch province of North Holland. The municipality of Wormerland was founded in 1991 by the merger of the municipalities of Jisp, Wijdewormer and Wormer. The industrialisation that hit the Zaan area in the 19th and 20th centuries also extended to Wormer. The other places have retained their old character. The natural monument Wormer and Jisperveld is a unique brackish water peat area, which recalls how the region may have looked during its exploitation.
